Big Chunky Slab Hardwood Sycamore Coffee Table

This is an unbelievable bit of timber and a truly massive, thick chunk of beautiful old sycamore timber on bespoke box frame legs.

The timber came from a barn in West Yorkshire and had been sat there for 35 years. It has been treated, filled with resin, sanded and the process repeated several times. We have finished it in a very hardwearing hard wax oil in a natural finish so as not to detract from the natural beauty of the grain and markings.

You won’t see this thickness of timber on a coffee table again – it would make several butchers blocks if you chopped it up, but we couldn’t!

It has been a joy to work on but my word does it take a bit of shifting. It always takes two people to move and lift and get it into place as this is no ordinary piece of furniture.

Thickness – a whole 5 inches!
